Study Investment management with EBS and LHV specialists
What kinds of criteria should a student focus on when choosing a path of higher education? First and foremost, the education should have practical value. Furthermore, the ever-increasing pace of globalization means that a good education should provide the student with tools for an international profession. In other words, a student should focus on three questions. One, what will I be able to do with the acquired education? Two, is there demand for this kind of expertise on the job market? And three – in the long run, is it likely that this path of education will provide me with an interesting life and career?
Starting from autumn 2010, there is a new opportunity to acquire a degree meeting these criteria at Estonian Business School (EBS). EBS is the oldest university level business school in the Baltic States, offering internationally recognized degree programs. In collaboration with LHV Bank, EBS has developed a new and unique Bachelor’s degree study program – Investment Management. The 3-year program is aimed at both foreign and local students and will be conducted in English. The program was developed as a response to the strong demand on the job market for investment specialists who have deep theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and high ethical standards.
During the first year, students will take general subjects from Estonian Business School’s Bachelor of International Business Administration program. The second and third year are taught in accordance with the internationally acknowledged Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program and textbooks. This allows the graduate to take the CFA exam and, upon completing it, get a Level I certificate. The certificate itself is a globally accepted, highly acknowledged measure of competence in investment banking. After finishing the 3-year program, students also get a Bachelor’s degree from Estonian Business School.
To strengthen the preparations for the CFA exam, Estonian Business School lecturers will be joined by leading specialists from LHV Bank, bringing in their expertise in the subject. As a bonus, students can take part in LHV Investment School seminars for free. For international experience, students are welcome to spend a period of time studying at one of EBS’s 70 partner universities around the world.
Students studying Investment Management are eligible for a diverse bonus package whereby LHV helps to organize student practice and tutelage in either LHV bank or one of its partner organizations. During the program, LHV will also carry out a practical investment portfolio management simulation challenge. Furthermore, students can apply for an LHV scholarship in the total sum of 100 000 kroons (approximately 6400 EUR). Finally, the brightest graduates are welcomed to work at LHV Bank.
